Suicide tourism’ to Switzerland has doubled since 2009

According to CNN Health, between 2008 and 2012 over 600 tourists have gone to Switzerland for what people are calling “suicide tourism.” Because Switzerland differs from the UK, Germany, and many of its other neighbors in not really having a clear law regarding assisted suicide, many patients who are terminally ill with neurological disorders, cancers, etc. have traveled to Switzerland to take a drug called sodium pentobarbital, which causes the patient to slide into a deep coma and paralyzes the respiratory system.
