Increasing number of men are caregivers to adult family members

Women are often associated with being caregivers, but, more and more men are caregivers for their adult family members. According to Bill Weaver, president of the Daily Living Centers based in Bethany, Okla., more and more men are bringing their wives or a parent to adult day centers to spend four to eight hours a day while they work, run errands or take care of doctor appointments. In fact, the Family Caregiver Alliance says that an estimated 40 percent of caregivers are male, up from 19 percent 15 years ago.
