Immersion Active Team Takes #IBS2020 By Storm

Last week, several members of the Immersion Active and Gilbert & Sheppard teams had the opportunity to attend and present programming at NAHB’s annual International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. 

 

The three-day event was filled with thousands (over 80k!) of energized attendees ready to learn from industry experts. Attendees were also able to explore an enormous expo (1500 exhibitors!) filled with exciting new home technology products. 

 

While the show officially began on Tuesday the 21st, some of our team members arrived a bit earlier to attend two days of NAHB Board, Council, and Committee meetings. Immersion Active and Gilbert & Sheppard are active in the 55+ Housing Council where Tori Ewing was participating in activities and in the Professional Women in Building (PWB) Council. Betsy Sheppard was honored as PWB Woman of the Year in 2019 and this year she was inducted as their National Board Chair for 2020-2021 (more on that down below).

 

Representing Immersion Active and Gilbert & Sheppard at the event were several other team members who presented during the week on best practices in marketing for the home industry. 

Tuesday kicked off with a presentation in the 55+ Housing Central by Immersion Active President Joe Ford and Jim Rivello of The Martin Architectural Group. Their presentation on Design Solutions for the Solo Ager sparked interest from the attendees on how this growing demographic is impacting the housing market.  Check out our newest blog in this series Rise of the Single 55+ Home Buyer Part 3: Let's Talk About Co-Housing for more on this emerging trend.

Later that morning, Kerrie Gilbert and her co-presenters, Beth Haynes of Regal Builders and Barbara Wray of Wick Marketing, presented What Your Competitors Don’t Know About Marketing to 55+ & How You Can Use It to Your Advantage to a packed room. Tuesday night was cause for celebration as the 55+ Housing Council announced its 2020 winners at the 55+ Housing Awards ceremony. We were proud to win in the Best 55+ Integrated Marketing Strategy category for our work with Noble’s Pond.

 

Wednesday morning began with a bang as Kerrie Gilbert and Stephanie Smith presented Nurturing 55+ Prospects Through a Longer Customer Journey. In the afternoon we celebrated as Betsy Sheppard was inducted as the 2020 Professional Women in Building Chair. You can find out more about Betsy and her induction here.

Thursday was no less busy as Kerrie Gilbert and Stephanie Smith presented on The Two Faces of Social Media. Later in the day, Kerrie presented B.O.O.M! Bridging the Communication Gap with Boomers, an interactive program that provided tactful dos and don’ts for improving communication with 55+ consumers. And of course, we continued to avail ourselves of the educational sessions and multitude of vendors displaying the latest in technology.

We left IBS 2020 excited and well-informed with what’s to come in the housing industry this year.
