Immersion Active announced the addition of several new staff members to its award-winning interactive design firm based in Frederick. Founded in 1998, the company increased its staff by 50% in 2005 to accommodate the expanding scope of its projects and the growing number of ongoing accounts.
“We are pleased to be working with new clients like the National Aeronautic Association and Dan Ryan Homes,” explained co-owner David Weigelt. “This year we also produced the NFL Baltimore Ravens 10th anniversary website and we are continuing to do other projects for the team.”
New Immersion Active staff members include Kathi Scharf formerly with Manugistics in Rockville who serves as senior project manager. With more than 15 years of experience in communications, technical writing, and management, Kathi holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Penn State and a master of arts in English from Old Dominion University.
Joining Immersion Active as project manager is Bob Black, a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in marketing management. Bob previously worked in technical software support for Hubbell Lighting in Christiansburg, Virginia, where he handled national accounts with Lowe’s and Wal-Mart. His duties with IA include maintenance of all client websites.
Phil Gomer handles Cold Fusion and ASP programming in his position as IA web application developer. After earning a degree in Computer Science and Math from Vanderbilt University, he performed backend website development at GettHealth Administrators, where he also served as technical assistant to the CMO and CEO.
Immersion Active’s new multi-media designer is Greg MacWilliam, a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology with a degree in new media design and imaging. A New York native, Greg worked as a designer with Marbella Suites in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, before joining IA.
Immersion ActiveÍs newest Web/Flash designer, who joined the firm late this year, is Jason Vaughan, a graduate of Ai Bradley Academy for the Visual Arts in York, PA with a degree in Specialized Technology. In addition to his work at Immersion, Jason recently completed a non-profit site for the Victim Assistance Center in York, PA.
