Boomers on the Web Claim Good Health

The Pittsburg Post-Gazette, 8/29/07

Abstract:

Eons Inc., a Boston-based Internet fitness company, claims on the basis of a survey of its members (most of whom are ages 50-65) that the baby boom generation is "the most physically active and healthy generation in history."

"Boomers grew up before video games and 900 cable channels," said Jeff Taylor, founder and CEO of Eons. "They have always been active and in motion, and they're not stopping now."

Walking was the favorite physical activity, cited by 48 percent of respondents. The next most popular were weight lifting, cited by 15 percent of respondents, and jogging, cited by 12 percent. Seven percent of respondents listed an outdoor sport such as skiing or hiking or biking, and 5 percent cited aerobics...

...A quarter of respondents listed their health as excellent, with another 43 percent describing it as "very good." Only 3 percent of respondents described their health as "poor."
